Getting Started

After installing Plank, open your browser and go to http://localhost:3300 (or your server’s address).

Create Your Account

The first user to register becomes the admin. You’ll be walked through the onboarding flow to set up your account and organization.

Set Up API Keys

Head to Settings to configure external services:

• TMDB API Key — Required for browsing and searching movies/TV shows. Get one free at themoviedb.org/settings/api.
• Prowlarr — Automatically configured if you used Docker. Provides torrent indexer search.
• OpenSubtitles — Optional. Enables subtitle search and download. Get an API key at opensubtitles.com/consumers.

You can set these via the Settings page in the UI or through environment variables.

Add Your First Media

There are three ways to add content:

1. Browse — Go to the Browse page to discover trending and popular movies and TV shows. Click any title to add it to your library.
2. Search — Use the Search page to find specific titles across your configured torrent indexers.
3. Magnet Links — Click the plus icon in the bottom menu bar and paste your magnet link. Plank will automatically detect the type and add it to your library.

Once added, Plank downloads the torrent and begins streaming. You can start watching before the download finishes.

Invite Others

As an admin, you can invite other users from the Account page. Each user gets their own profile and library.
